However, it is advisable for advanced divers due to its depth and the distance it takes from the shore. But for sure, once you take the risk of diving its wrecks, you will be amazed with all the wonders that it has to offer.

The history of the SS Grainton began with it being built by Chapman and Willan who owned four ships all with the names of SS Grainton. But this was the very first which sank deep in St. Thomas. It was built in 1911 and launched in March 26 of the same year.

Now the entire ship lies deep about 110 feet under the waters with all the gunwales open to give a reveal of its 3 huge steam engines where were all made frozen in time. The engine measures about 20 feet high and 10 feet wide and now serves as home to many schools of fish. Watch out too for large nurse sharks and pelagic prowlers with this deep level of water.

It is where you can find an underwater observatory which renders you a chance to view all kinds of marine life without having to get wet.

Because of this attraction, Coki Beach can really get utterly saturated at times. Both adults and kids alike can enjoy and have a great time in the Coral World especially if you have never really experienced seeing the beauty underwater.

You would have to pay for an admission fee though but if you would take part in the island tours, then you would have to pay for the entire tour package. If you want to reach it on your own, then you can just grab a taxi from the Charlotte Amalie or just ride the East End bus.

You go to the Caribbean for the water, so go ahead and literally dive in. No requirement for training because Coral World has a guided walk on the ocean floor. Sea Trek is what they call it and it’s one of the world’s premier helmets driving experience. The tour lasts for approximately half an hour. Fish and other sea creatures swim right up to your visor because the animals are not captive. With their special helmet, you can breathe normally underwater. Your hair tucked inside and kept dry so you have a clear view on your visor.
If you have companions who are not so willing to go underwater, they can watch you trek from the bottom level of the Undersea Observatory. The only one in the Caribbean, it’s fully air conditioned and positioned 100 feet offshore. The scene changes frequently because the marine life here is free to come and go at will. The excitement of watching them in their natural habitat is just endless.
