It is an island which measures 491.5 acres with over 161 residents. However, most parts are still undeveloped. It is located on the southern side of St. Thomas for about a half-mile far. Some tourists who want to see the island reach it by a ferry ride.

The most popular attraction in this island is the Honeymoon Beach. But according to some, it cannot even be called a beach. It has an area of about 50 feet long packed with rocks and vegetation and can only extend from the water line in 10 feet.

Why would you explore Emancipation Garden in Charlotte Amalie? Because across this place is a haven for local and foreign artists that has regular stock changes. This warehouse-style space is open daily except Sundays for stocks like calabash bowls, straw-made baskets and hats, African-inspired jewelries, colorful quilts and shell lamps. The bush teas which are made from local herbs, home-brewed guavaberry liqueur on holidays and regional cookbooks are some of the must-haves in this place. Be one of the tourists to spot more than 150 Caribbean artists on this Native Arts and Crafts Cooperative.

Visitors arrive to the USVIs via St Thomas. The place has a way to strike quite a first impression. Cliffs raised high up in the sky, red roofs blooms over the hills, and all around the clear blue sea, yacht lined up the shore lines. Unfortunately, when you disembark from your plane or boat, you’ll find you’re sharing this scene with 20, 000 tourists who just piled up from the seven cruise ships docked in the harbor.
Years ago, St Thomas made a bargain with the devil: provide us with a good and steady source of income and we’ll give you our innocence and our environment. And so it became the darling of the cruise-ship industry and its two million passengers. In 2007, St. Thomas ranked last in the ‘world’s most beautiful islands’ survey by National Geographic, which called it ‘totally spoiled’ and ‘one big ugly jewelry store.’
That’s true…to an extent. Most of the mob-fest happens in Charlotte Amalie. Visitors who make the effort to move deeper into the 30-sq-mile island will find opportunities for surfing, kayaking through mangrove swamps and getting face-to-face with sea turtles.
An irony from most information you’ll find on the web, its up to you to see for yourself and find out. Sum of all this, there may be more good than a bargain from the devil in this place.

While you’re in St. Thomas enjoying your vacation, I recommend you see the defense structures such as forts, canons and watchtowers scattered all over the city. There are local museums where you can learn about the history of the town. See the 18th century planning of the city while exercising at the 99 steps.

Or you can take a drive and go to the highest peak on St. Thomas, you can enjoy the view and stop over at the world famous Drakes Seat to see the wonderful and breathtaking vista that is Magens Bay. There are plenty of lookout points to take pictures at and some really interesting areas around the island. A knowledgeable tour guide will take you to most places, or you can opt to just explore the island on your own.
