Family Getaway: Haagensen House

Named after famous Hans Haagensen, a Danish banker married to Sarah Julia Magens of Magens Bay and Plantation, the Haagensen House was constructed in the late 19th century in Government Hill, Charlotte Amalie. The architectural and interior style of this historical house is a mixture of Greek and West Indian civilization. The large windows of this residence are well decorated and the marble tiled stairs connecting the two floors can only be found outside.

Interesting antiques can be found on the banquet halls and inside the five exhibit rooms as supervised by St. Thomas Historical Trust. This restored house’s terrace is also highly recommended place for weddings ad other great occasions. This house, situated above Hotel 1829, is further beautified by being surrounded by gardens, outbuildings and cookhouse.
