Sabrini Mirpuri, Shannon Newland and Julia Hogroian poses with Antilles students’ pop art. The face of Antilles School science teacher Adam Quandt was covered with whipped cream and after he was the target of a pie-throwing game during the “Fun Day for Kids” fundraiser Sunday afternoon at Antilles’ Mark C. Marin Center.
The fundraiser tradition was started three years ago by Noor Suid and another classmate, who has since moved off-island. Suid has kept it going with the help of students, teachers, Antilles staff and her family.
The first year it was held, the $3,000 proceeds were donated to Bethlehem House. Suid has since added Clear Blue Sky, a clubhouse for individuals suffering with mental illness, as a beneficiary.
This occasion has surely proved that charity work can be fun. It obviously gives these people a feeling of fulfilment. No matter how much money was raised, it doesn’t really important. What’s really important is wanting to help others.

The St. Thomas Reformed Church will be celebrating 350 years this 2010. In St. Thomas, there will be activities, concerts, services and visiting artist performances.
St. Thomas Reformed Church was established in 1660 by the first organized group of European settlers to the island. It’is one of the oldest congregations in the Caribbean. Part of the Reformed Church in America, founded by Dutch settlers in Manhattan in 1628, the church is the oldest denomination in America.
It was first named St. Thomas Protestant Reformed Dutch Church, the first services took place in Fort Christian, the site of which is now a museum and historical site in Charlotte Amalie. This church, which was built in the mid-1670s, was in use until 1731. The church’s subsequent two buildings on Snegle Gade were both destroyed by fire.
The church’s current location, constructed between 1844 and 1848, is at the corner of Crystal and Nye Gades. Though the church was destroyed by Hurricane Marilyn in 1995, the work of hundreds of volunteers restored it to its original state.

99 Steps, is a work out that will get your heart pumping. Admission is free so when you are in Charlotte Amalie make your way to Government House and Hotel 1829. Between these two buildings you will find steps built in the 1700’s by the Danes. Some say they were built when Danish engineers demanded that the city be laid out in a grid format. Not having visited these engineers weren’t aware of St. Thomas’ steep topography yet demanded the grid so the staircase was built. The bricks used to construct the steps were originally brought from Denmark as ballast in the hulls of sailing ships. Some have said the steps were built as a way to use these bricks. Others have said the steps made the hillsides easier to climb.
As you climb the 99 steps count and you will learn that there are actually 103 steps leading you high atop the harbor were the stone remains of an old tower said to be used by Blackbeard as a lookout. It is now the Inn at Blackbeard’s Castle. Also at the top of the 99 steps is the statue of the Three Queen who led the labor revolt of St. Croix in 1878.

Visitors arrive to the USVIs via St Thomas. The place has a way to strike quite a first impression. Cliffs raised high up in the sky, red roofs blooms over the hills, and all around the clear blue sea, yacht lined up the shore lines. Unfortunately, when you disembark from your plane or boat, you’ll find you’re sharing this scene with 20, 000 tourists who just piled up from the seven cruise ships docked in the harbor.
Years ago, St Thomas made a bargain with the devil: provide us with a good and steady source of income and we’ll give you our innocence and our environment. And so it became the darling of the cruise-ship industry and its two million passengers. In 2007, St. Thomas ranked last in the ‘world’s most beautiful islands’ survey by National Geographic, which called it ‘totally spoiled’ and ‘one big ugly jewelry store.’
That’s true…to an extent. Most of the mob-fest happens in Charlotte Amalie. Visitors who make the effort to move deeper into the 30-sq-mile island will find opportunities for surfing, kayaking through mangrove swamps and getting face-to-face with sea turtles.
An irony from most information you’ll find on the web, its up to you to see for yourself and find out. Sum of all this, there may be more good than a bargain from the devil in this place.

A beach wedding could easily be ruined by the wind being too strong, or a sudden big wave, bigger than you’d expect, or sand all over your food. I may have found just the perfect spot in the Caribbean for a perfect beach wedding. Away from all these possible mishaps, but close enough to keep the view of the Caribbean.
Hold your elegant Caribbean wedding on the St. John Terrace, their most popular wedding location. A lovely gazebo on the top of the Resort’s rooftop overlooks breathtaking island view.
On the eastern end of the beautiful island of St. Thomas, the Wyndham Sugar Bay provides the perfect setting for your dream wedding. An awe-inspiring view of the Caribbean Sea and neighboring islands.
Whether your ideal wedding is just the two if you or a grand event with loved ones, it will help you plan your dream island wedding and throw in one of the most breathtaking backdrops in the Caribbean.
